A cold mountain spring on the Valle del Verde route, for extending the village visit into a proper nature outing.
Why go
Fontana Gilenta is the mountain spring known on the Valle del Verde route, in the Farfarà area. Its name suggests icy water: this is not a point of interest a few minutes from the village square, but a hiking stop in a landscape of woods, streams and rural paths.
Why the outing is worthwhile
The spring gives a simple goal to a walk through the valley. Go to feel the change of atmosphere between hamlet and mountain: fewer houses, more shade, cool air and the sound of water. It is a good way to understand the Valle del Verde through its landscapes rather than only from the road.
Prepare properly
Locate the turn before leaving, download an offline map and wear proper shoes. Distances and trail conditions vary with the season. This spring should not be confused with Fontana Vecchia in central Guinadi.
